Many Americans ask themselves do I have enough vacation to take off of work today? The truth is we don’t. On average, American employers only have thirteen vacation days a year. How is that enough? Everyone has a life and things come up. The thing is how come America only gets thirteen vacation days, when France gets thirty- seven and Italy U.S.
Many Americans use their vacation around the holidays to spend time with their family, but some don’t get that chance because they’re wondering, will I have enough vacation to last the year if I take too much time off? Since when does work come before family? Employers should have enough paid work days to spend as much time with their family for all the holidays and not have to worry.
American’s lives can become extremely busy in a short amount of time. Think about this, everyone has one of those years when it’s chaotic and hectic. Can you chaperone your kid’s field trip, or do you have to say no because your running low on vacation? When you think it through you don’t have enough time off to go on a vacation and spend time with family. What are you going to do if you get sick or worse a family member gets sick? Do you tell them I can’t hold your hand the whole way because I have to work? This is when it becomes a problem. You want to be there for them, but you need the income to help support your family.
So many things can pop up like a wedding or a baby shower or in worst case scenario a funeral or wake. Eventually, your life gets busy before you know it. Everyone has a busy time of the year or a huge project to finish. Will you have enough vacation to take a day or two off to recharge your batteries? Employers need a break now and then, but some people can’t afford to take off knowing they won’t have enough vacation to last the year. Not taking a break now and then is bad for your health. Your body can’t go nonstop, you need to rest.
In Europe , people don’t normally have this problem because they have weeks of vacation days. They could go on a vacation every year, and spend lots of extra time with their family. Europeans don’t have to worry when they’re sick because they have enough vacation to last the year. They have the pleasure to take a break just to relax and enjoy a nice day outside. How great is that? Unfortunately, American employers will never get that chance. While Europeans take breaks and enjoy that nice day, Americans are chained to their office building, wanting to take a day off but knowing they won’t have enough vacation to last the year if they do.
If Americans had enough vacation they would be living happier, healthier, and less stressful lives. They wouldn’t be worried about planning their vacation day’s just right to last the year. Let employers enjoy their life by giving them more vacation days!

That's awesome and I totally agree. I mean sometimes you just need the day off and you should be able to spend it your way even if you only get one or two of those a year. I totally support your side!
